You submitted the questions, we got the answers. Following on from our 'Ask Your Questions' article, Insomniac's James Stevenson has been kind enough to answer your questions regarding Resistance 3, which is almost upon us. Better get cracking, then.
Will Nathan Hale show his alien, bullet-riddled face in Resistance 3? What will post-release DLC comprise of? What does the future hold for the Resistance series? All these questions, and more, have answers below. Have fun.
Is Resistance 3 going to answer the major questions regarding the history of the Resistance universe? In particular, are we finally going to see the complete picture of who the Chimera are, where they came from, and what is their relationship to Earth and humanity?
For the players dying to know more about the mythos and the lore, there are lots of nuggets hidden throughout the game. The overall story of the game is more about one man and his journey across the country, though, rather than necessarily getting into the high-level story about the Chimera themselves. How long will the Resistance 3 campaign be?
It’s around the same as the others; give or take your skill, and difficulty level, maybe a shade shorter. We think it’s a varied and well-paced campaign though, and should be really satisfying. Plus, you can replay on a higher difficulty level to continue levelling your weapons up.What have you, Insomniac Games, learned on the Resistance 3 project that you wish had been more apparent when developing the previous installments?
Just having time to play the game was such a luxury. Moving to a three-year development cycle allowed us to really step back and take a look at the game as a whole with months to go. In the past, at that point we would’ve been scrambling to finish the game. This time we were able to make major changes in pacing and training of players, and it made a huge difference for Resistance 3.Will we get online trophies via post-release DLC?
We will have some DLC, but we won’t be adding any trophies in the DLC. For us, we wanted the full trophy suite to be available to campaign/co-op players, and to allow medals and statistics to form MP side of it for those that like it.In split screen co-op mode, will you be able to use two Move controllers and two navigators?
No, it will be Dualshock only for split screen. Is Resistance 3 going to have that same cooperative perk system the second one had? Or is it going to be a more streamlined experience?
We actually are back to campaign co-op for Resistance 3. One of the big reasons we shifted was due to overwhelming fan feedback on Resistance 2 that they were disappointed, so we removed it. Furthermore we knew that, to get the level of polish on R3 that we required, we would have to reduce the scope. So making sure our co-op was playable through the campaign, instead of as a separate co-op campaign, was huge in that goal. What's been the biggest influence on the design around the third game? What did you absolutely want to make better?
The biggest thing we wanted to do this time was create a very focussed, atmospheric experience. We wanted to tell the personal story of Joseph Capelli – and not make another military shooter. So, we looked at a lot of great films that do a really good job showcasing a brutal personal journey. For instance, The Road was a big influence. And on the game side, we looked at Half-Life 2 and Metro 2033, both very atmospheric experiences. Will Nathan Hale make a return or be referenced in one form or another?
We actually discussed this quite a bit at the beginning of production. Should Hale come back? Should he be a major boss in the game? In the end, we felt like it’d be really cheesy to revive him, and that his legacy would be best left if we kept him buried.Just how far across America can we be expected to hike?
So far! From Haven, Oklahoma to New York City. Let’s just say you couldn’t make a day-hike out of it.With Insomniac branching into multiplatform games like Overstrike, are there plans to introduce Xbox gamers to the Resistance series?
Sony owns the Resistance IP, so it’s unlikely that that will happen.Just how much will Resistance 3 expand and possibly shake up the canon of the series? Could we expect to see a future game set on an alien world?
You know, the Resistance universe is so vast that there are many, many possibilities for a tonne of exploration. So, who knows! There’s already a future game announced for PlayStation Vita that’s being developed by Nihilistic, called Resistance: Burning Skies, which will take you back to the US invasion. Will Resistance take a back seat after Resistance 3, so Insomniac can focus on Overstrike or Ratchet & Clank?
We’re just focussed on supporting Resistance 3, getting Ratchet & Clank: All 4 One out of the door, and continuing development on Overstrike and our Insomniac Click Facebook game. As far as what else is down the road, anything is possible! Many fans were upset with the general tone of Resistance 2. Do you think Resistance 3 rectifies this and aims to please the core fans more?
We like to think Resistance 3 combines the best parts of Fall of Man and R2. The result is the definitive Resistance experience for fans of the series. I think when they get their hands on it they will feel the same way.And one very specific one from a reader:
This is a really important question, because I really want to buy the Survivor Edition but I currently live in Germany, so I have to know if the German (USK) version of R3 comes with the English language pack or not.
If English is set as your primary language on your PS3, it should automatically be in English. So, yes! Thanks to all you who you sent questions in, and thank to James Stevenson and Ryan Schneider for the interview. Be sure to stick around, as we have many more games and developers simply queuing up for a GGTL interview in the near future, including one for an upcoming Bethesda game.
...if only I could remember what it was called.

Remember when you went on holiday to a remote yet stunning tropical island with Mum, Dad, your brother and his best mate who smelt worryingly of extremely strong cigarettes? Wasn't the sand betwixt your toes a golden warmth; the piercing blue ocean an inviting oasis from a beating, glimmering sun? And remember when everyone got infected with virus and you had to man up and start cracking zombie skulls?
No? Well, Techland certainly had the most violent and haunting childhood getaways, and their upcoming game Dead Island looks set to tug at your heartstrings. As you tug open some undead flesh.
We have an exclusive interview with the Dead Island team, and since we asked all of our readers to contribute to our Resistance 3 interview, we thought that those who prefer the rotting corpses of loved ones to the slimy scales of invading aliens might feel left out if we didn't let you take part in this one, too. Just follow the steps below; you should be used to them by now.

Man has fallen. The world lies shaken, shattered, and smouldering. There is no hope left for our kind.
Except everything's awesome now, because there's a planet full of aliens to shoot at! Insomniac Games' vision of an Earth owned by extra-terrestrials may seem bleak on the outside, but pick up a Bullseye and you may just have the time of your short, puny and meaningless life. Resistance 3 isn't exactly a happy game, but it's going to be one hell of a ride.
We have an exclusive interview with the tireless homo sapiens at Insomniac, and it's only fair that you, the loving and adoring fans, get to ask the questions. So long as you're not a Chimera.
Just follow the steps below to submit your intelligent questions.

Codemasters, being the lovely sort of people they are, have invited Gamer's Guide to Life.com to an exclusive, illusive and hopefully conclusive Bodycount event in the heart of London this Wednesday, and we're opening the floor to your fan questions. How do they make stuff blow up like that?
We've secured an exclusive interview with art director Max Cant, and we're giving our readers - that's you - the opportunity to quiz him on anything you like about Codemasters' latest FPS.

Remember that Tropico 4 Community Interview that we promised? Well, after escaping from the beautiful island by only the skin of our teeth, we've brought back a secretly-taped discussion with El Presidente and one of his aides. The UN, the EU, the League of Nations (they're still kicking about, right?) all want a piece of the infamous El Presidente - and GGTL exclusively has the dirt on him that can bring him to justice.
Read on after the jump for the full interview.
With the new 'Fire Station' building added in Tropico 4, will there be dynamic damage/fires that affect our buildings and island at large in the game?
El Presidente: The Tropican buildings are made by only the best materials. They do not burn or get damaged. Ever. If one of them falls it was meant to fall, by my order.
Anonymous underling: Both will be present in the game. Disasters like earthquakes and hurricanes can cause buildings to become damaged. If a construction worker does not come to repair them, they will catch fire.
Fires can also start because of a volcano, or because of citizen negligence. You can prioritise which buildings should be put out first by your firemen or pay for a helicopter that puts out the fire instantly.
How will privatisation/nationalisation be dealt with? Will we be able to charge for services that were always provided for free in previous Tropico games?
El Presidente: Everything should be under my control at all times. After all, who but me can decide what is best for my people.
Healthcare, food and religion are my gifts to society and will remain free.
Anonymous underling: Privatisation will play a bigger role in Tropico 4. The Stock Exchange will attract foreign offers for constructing private buildings. Private buildings may go bankrupt if they do not have enough resources, or workers. Their owners will also be able to set wages as they see fit. The list of buildings that can be private is not yet finalised, but there will be more options compared to Tropico 3.
Healthcare, food and religion are Presidente’s gifts to society. There are no imminent plans to change that.
Will we have any kind of terraforming tools during our presidential reign?
El Presidente: Tropico is the most beautiful island on Earth. Why would we want to change its landscape if not to build several new factories?
Anonymous underling: Players will not be able to terraform their islands during gameplay. When creating a challenge (both online or offline), you will be able to customise the island including modifications on the terrain and adding/removing resources, crop and beauty markers.
Will there be improvements to the constant traffic congestion we suffered from in Tropico 3?
El Presidente: Traffic jams are a sure symbol of progress. Only well-developed countries can afford to have traffic jams. We should be proud of them!
Anonymous underling: As of this moment, no measures are planned to reduce traffic congestion but that is liable to change. There will be improvements to how roads are constructed, however.
What new opposition will there be to your regime? Right now there are rebels, superpowers, and local politics. What new challenges will be part of Presidente's threat profile?
El Presidente: Threats?!? Don’t make me laugh. Presidente was, Presidente is and Presidente will be forever. No matter what our enemies throw at us, it will always bounce back at them.
Anonymous underling: There are more superpowers now and they are just as fickle as the old ones. The new trade system allows for the superpowers to impose embargos on some goods.
Also, the citizens of Tropico may become criminals and start committing armed robberies and even murder. Your policemen will try to arrest them or shoot them down.
Will the new foreign powers added (China, Europe) place demands on El Presidente, in the same way that the US & USSR currently expect you to, and if so, what kind of new demands might we see from these powers given they are not explicitly Capitalist/Communist?
El Presidente: All they do is demand. I can’t get a minute of peace without someone nagging me to export smoked beef or to become their favoured trade partner.
Anonymous underling: Each superpower has its own unique agenda. Europe is deeply concerned about human rights on your island, while the Middle East is deeply worried by the price of oil and how you affect it. The new superpowers will not be able to invade your island, but they can do damage in other ways, like imposing embargos and other penalties.
How will the combat be handled in Tropico 4?
El Presidente: There is only one way to handle combat: you point your gun and you shoot. If you are doing something else, you are doing it wrong.
Anonymous underling: We do not plan on modifying the combat of the game. We do not plan on making the game an RTS or a shooter. Still, there are a few surprises for the rebels that el Presidente has in his sleeve. I will mention two: one will make El Presidente twice as effective in combat and the other just goes boom.
What are some of the new features/buildings that industrialist dictators can look forward to in Tropico 4?
El Presidente: This is a secret of national importance. You must be a spy if you want this information.
Anonymous underling: Here are two buildings that affect your industry and production:
of electricity. With upgrades it can also improve the life of the everyday Tropican.
The Horticulture Station is a new building that affects your agriculture. It can be used to plant forests, turn all of your agricultural production organic, or you can dabble in the dark arts of genetically modified corn.
Will there be modding tools for the PC community?
El Presidente: Tropico is a work of art. Anyone trying to modify it better wash his hands first and be ready for swift arrest if I do not approve of his creations.
Anonymous underling: Yes. The player will be able to create online challenges. The tools and interface for challenge creation have been totally redone and give many new options. As mentioned before, you will be able to modify the terrain of your island when editing your challenge and add or remove resources, beauty and crop markers. You will also be able to place the starting buildings as you wish.
How politically-minded do you feel Tropico 4 is? Does the construction come before the politics?
El Presidente: This is a very good question. Next question please.
Anonymous underling: Well, looking at current politics and headlines I will say that we don’t dare to go that crazy, but we’re close enough. With the new National Agenda mechanic, the different factions are able to communicate more freely with El Presidente and he can answer to their needs more directly.
Construction and politics go hand in hand. This is precisely why Tropico is unique: you don’t need every building to win - in fact, you don’t need half of them, but what you do need is good planning and awareness.
Are mission islands larger than those of Tropico 4?
El Presidente: Have you heard of a game called Minecraft? Our islands are bigger.
Anonymous underling: Yes. Everything is bigger, as it should be. Alas, we did not manage to reach infinity, but the area of the new maps is twice that of the old.
When can we expect to see new trailers/assets for the game?
El Presidente: I spoil you too much by giving you trailers and screenshots for free.
Anonymous underling: Like all cool developers say, you will see them when they are ready. They are currently in the works.
Could you give us an advance on the 'August 2011' release date
El Presidente: If some dollars were to come to my Swiss account, the game could be out by next week. Propositions below the current US budget deficit will not be viewed seriously.
Anonymous underling: What Presidente said.
Presidente and Underling answers were compiled by Lyubomir Iliev, Game Designer at Haemimont Games.
The verdict? Tropico 4 is guilty. Of being a damn fine proposition. We can't wait to bring you more info on the exotic title, and Gamer's Guide to Life.com would like to thank the men and women at Kalypso Media and Haemimont Games for such a wonderfully inventive interview. Yes, yes, it's been a while. But better late then never; that Fallout: New Vegas Community Interview we did all the way back in May has been through hell, but finally arrived at our virtual doorstep brimming with exclusive information and only slightly burnt around the edges. A big thanks goes to the men and women at Bethesda and Obsidian, and without further ado, we present our community-driven Fallout: New Vegas interview, courtesy of Gamer's Guide to Life.com.
Have there been any graphical updates to the game engine? Did you always plan to use the Fallout 3 engine?
Fallout 3's engine was the natural choice for us, given the timeline we we had and what we wanted to accomplish with the game. While we haven't made direct changes to the engine to support enhanced graphics, we worked on the texture resolutions and made performance tweaks.Did you enjoy Fallout 3? Are you trying to improve upon it, or just make your own game of the Fallout universe?
I think pretty much everyone on the team enjoyed Fallout 3! I think the latter questions aren't independent of each other - we wanted to both make our own game in the Fallout universe, and improve upon what Fallout 3 did. I think we succeeded on both accounts. Can you modify and look down the sights of every single firearm? Are there any new types of weapon - we've seen flame, plasma and ray guns in Fallout 3, but will you add any new ones?
Yes, every firearm has 'true' ironsights (this is actually a mode that can be disabled, for players that prefer the 3rd-person shoulder cam). And as far as I can recall, every firearm has at least a couple of mods. Overall, we’ve got about double the guns that were in Fallout 3. Players will also be able to use different ammo types with weapons. Are gambling activities like Poker or Blackjack just mini-games, or will they sometimes play important roles in missions or game progress? Will lockpicking return?
I think enough of us complained about 'mandatory' mini-games that we shied away from the idea of forcing the player to play them. There's more to be won at the tables than just caps, though! Lock picking will definitely return in Fallout: New Vegas. Will there be any sort of multiplayer/online component? If not, why not?
There is no multiplayer or online component to Fallout: New Vegas. While there's a lot of potential there, that wasn't what we wanted for our game; it's definitely tailored to be a solo experience (though of course you'll have NPC companions). To have multiplayer or online components, I think it's important to decide what aspects you'll have and how to implement them very early on, and we decided against this.In Fallout 3, the most populated place was the slightly barren Rivet City, with only a small handful of NPCs. Will there be much larger settlements in New Vegas, with many more interactive NPCs?
Since the Strip (and a lot of the surrounding region) didn't get hit by nukes, you'll find more intact settlements, and more people overall. In fact, the first town you wake up in (Goodsprings) has a decent number of folk, and you'll find more populated areas as you explore the wasteland. Overall, we've got a ton of NPCs.Will there be any major differences between platforms? Are you planning to include exclusive DLC, and will the G.E.C.K. return for PC?
There shouldn't be any major differences, no. While we're tinkering with things here and there, we're trying to keep the differences minimal (they're done solely for performance reasons). There will be DLC but we can't talk about specifics yet, but PC modders should look forward to an updated GECK release.
Will there be new stealth systems?
No, but Sneak (like most skills) can be temporarily boosted by skill magazines, a new item that gives you a small temporary bump (as opposed to Books, which give you a permanent bonus). How long will Fallout: New Vegas be? Can you continue playing after the main storyline?
It's hard to give an estimate because of how many different ways you can play the game, but rest assured that there's plenty of content for the Fallout addict! You won't be able to play after you've finished the main storyline, but you'll be given clear warning before you pass that point, so you can go back and mop up any threads you left open. How many perks from Fallout 3 will reappear, and how many of your own are you adding? Could you possibly spill any examples?
The majority of Fallout 3's perks are back (some are modified, some were removed), and we've added quite a few of our own. We should have more information on that soon.Is there a new side-quest system, or ambient events like Red Dead Redemption, or are set quests only given to set people?
There isn't a new 'system,' but there are a number of side quests. There are also ambient events that you'll see occurring in the world around you, triggered by various things you've done. We're committed to making quests feel unique and "make sense" in the world, so we always associate quests with specific NPCs.Are there any sly hints at past Fallout games?
Maybe a few. ;)Will there be a weather cycle?
No. We did, however, completely redo the sky and times of day, so look forward to some scenic sunsets! Will it be possible to max out all skills in one playthrough? Will there be many different endings (not just variations on a few opposite ones as in Fallout 3)?
If it's possible to max out all your skills in one go, no one's done it yet! There is more variation to our endings, as they depend on your reputation with various factions, actions you've taken, and companions you've recruited. Will Dogmeat return, and will companions have more character, with detailed pasts, etc?
Dogmeat isn't around for this adventure, but the companions each have their own personalities, back story, and some of them have their own motives and quests they'll want you to give them a hand with.To round off, a few quick-fire ones from the community:
Can you play as a ghoul?Nope, you can't play as a ghoul. Sorry!
Will there be vehicles present?
You'll see different wrecked cars, but no vehicles you can ride or drive.
Are there destructible environments?
No destructible environments, but some stuff still blows up when you shoot at it.
Is there a Level Cap?
Yes, the level cap is 30.
Will the Metro play as important a role as Fallout 3 (ie. Will you constantly have to go down there to reach new places?)
We don't have the Metro. There's something similar, but you don't have to explore it at all if you don't want to.
We hope you enjoyed the interview, and you can pick up New Vegas on the 19th October 2010. Stay tuned (via Twitter) to Gamer's Guide to Life.com for more Communinty Interviews on upcoming AAA titles.

Firstly, an apology. I know, I know; opening on a sombre note, right? Well, remember our Fallout: New Vegas community interview? It's been a few months since we've heard anything back, and that's because the development team have been really super busy making the game as awesome as possible.
