Due to extreme circumstance (five triple-A games coming out within a couple of weeks), I have decided to do two short, bullet pointed reviews.
Far Cry 2
- Great environment
- Shooting is quite good
- Too easy to be detected
- Guards’ AI is too good
- Far too much driving
- Accomplished map editor
- Missions are repetitive
- Multiplayer quite good, seems to copy CoD4 a little too much
- Fire effects are brilliant
- Graphics have improved
- Multiplayer much less laggy
- New Champion’s League mode impressed me
- Become a legend mode is good, but needs more features
- Still needs a proper custom Master League mode
- Lack of licensing needs to be addressed
- Needs more internet integration, e.g. team rosters to be updated after every transfer window
- Referees are too eager to dish out cards

- Graphics look a little better
- Ball seems to stick a little too much to the feet
- Editing improved, but still nothing like the depth found in PES6
- Imported songs from PS3 HDD have saved my ears from horrific J-Pop
- They still haven’t fixed it so you can make a custom master league team
- Master league still pretty much the same as last season
- Liverpool FC are licensed, all is well with the world
- Become a legend mode is pretty much the same as FIFA’s one; takes a while to get used to
- Hull are awful

Loads of new Pro Evolution Soccer 2009 information was released via a MySpace bulletin from the game’s official profile today.I have picked out the most interesting nuggets of information considering the amount that was released. The full list can be found at http://www.winningelevenblog.com/.
- Instant control. Buttons presses are no longer stored, making for a crisper playing style
- Better off-the-ball movement – running to receive passes
- Graphic depiction of weather conditions unique to each stadium
- Key new grounds like Wembley, in total about 20 stadiums
- All new players models in game: everything reworked for additional detail
- All new, clearer menu system
- Much improved music choice
- In addition to the importation of graphic data, music and crowd chants can also be added
- Pixel Paint function allows users to create team badges from scratch
- New 'Become a legend' mode
- Online version of 'Become a Legend'
- Upload finest moments for others to view and rate
- Easier to understand two-tier negotiations: team level and individual terms (master league)
- Players unhappy with terms, etc, will not play as well. A happy player will play better
Pro Evo 2009 looks awesome, especially compared to the decidedly average 2008 version. PES 09 will come out in October 2008 in Europe and November 2008 in the US/Canada.
