An Unlikely Duo

A couple of days ago, it was rumoured that Japanese mega-developer Square Enix would be the publisher of the upcoming Modern Warfare 2 in Japan. The company, best known for the Final Fantasy series, is attempting to expand its range of games to outside of the RPG mould. One can't help but find humour in the fact that possibly the largest shooter release of the year is going to be published by a studio associated with mostly RPGs.

Although there has been no official announcement by Square Enix, there is a teaser site that can be found here. The site features a large "2" fading in and out (the same "2" featured in the Modern Warfare 2 logo) and quotes from noteable military figures (also the same as Modern Warfare 2). All signs point to an impending announcement of Square Enix's deal with Activision, but - of course - there's always the chance that this is all just a big joke.
