"Fallujah" developer cutting staff

It seems yet another video game developer is being forced to downsize. In a statement released on Thursday, the game studio Atomic Games announced that they would be trimming their staff force down after failing to secure a publisher for their newest title "Six Days in Fallujah".

The game, set during the pivotal battle in the Iraqi city in November 2004, has been in the news for quite some time because of its controversial subject matter. Atomic staff said the title will be developed by a smaller team funded by sister company Destineer. The company has not released how many of their employees will be losing jobs.

Konami initially signed on the publish "Fallujah" but pulled out because of the reported negative reaction to the game. This is probably due to the real world conflict being depicted in the game that is still occurring today. Many marines were hired for the project to make sure the game portrayed the event accurately.

"Six Days in Fallujah" is being built for PC, PlayStation 3, and Xbox 360. A launch date is still cloudy.
